How Unite Works

The vow

Everyone on Unite joins by making one declaration:

That's the whole social contract. Everything below is just how it works in practice.

Joining

• Unite is invite-only. You're here because someone you know brought you in. There's no public sign-up and no way to “grow your reach” — the network stays small, real, and local on purpose.
• One real person, one account. Your profile is anchored to a real identity. No burner accounts, no anonymous handles.

Happenings

Happenings are real gatherings — a beach fire, a bike tour, a sunrise sit.

• Attend before you host. To create your own happening, come to at least one happening first. It's a small ask that keeps hosts grounded in the community rather than broadcasting into it. (Members who help launch Unite in a brand-new city are welcomed as hosts from day one.)
• Free and ticketed happenings. Some are open RSVPs; some sell tickets or ask for a contribution. Private happenings need the host to approve you before you can get a ticket.
• Show up. An RSVP or a ticket is a promise to the host and the other guests. Turning up is part of your reputation on Unite.

Invites

Unite spreads by personal invitation, and invites are limited on purpose.

• You start with a small handful of invites.
• Each invite is a single-use code that expires quickly — if it goes unused, it simply returns to you, so nothing is ever wasted.
• Bring people who genuinely show up, and the community trusts you with more over time. Inviting well is quietly rewarded. Invites are meant to feel personal, not gamed.

Families

Families are the smaller communities inside Unite — like Tulum Sunrise Club.

• Join or start a Family around something you share.
• Some Families are open; some are private or invite-only.
• A Family is a home, not a billboard — keep it real, keep it kind.

Offerings

Offerings are services members share — a teacher, a guide, a practitioner.

• Anyone can browse; providers set their own availability and pricing.
• Payments are handled securely in-app. A booking is a commitment on both sides.

Keeping Unite safe

Unite works because members look after it. Three tools do most of the work.

Report

See something that breaks the vow — harassment, hate, a scam, unsafe behaviour, inappropriate content? Report it. You can report a person, a happening, a message, a Family, or an offering.

• Reports are anonymous — the person you report is never told who flagged them.
• Our team reviews every report, usually within 24 hours.
• When a member collects multiple reports, some of their privileges — like inviting others and hosting — are automatically paused until we've reviewed what happened. Genuine misunderstandings are lifted quickly; real harm isn't.
• Founders and staff are not above this — the same standards apply to everyone.

Block

Blocking someone removes them from your world entirely — you won't see each other, message each other, or appear in each other's discovery. It's private and instant, and they're not notified.

Mute

Muting is the quiet option — you stop getting notifications from someone without blocking them. Useful when you don't need a wall, just some space.

The short version

2. Go to a happening before you host one.
3. Invite people you'd vouch for — and who'll actually show up.
4. Report anything that breaks the vow; block or mute anything you just don't want in your space.
