Terms of Use

Last updated: June 2026

We are Unite ("Company," "we," "us," "our"). We operate the Unite mobile application — a platform for real-world gatherings, social communities called Families, and shared in-person experiences.

Contact us at connect[at]unite.earth.

By accessing the Services, you confirm you have read, understood, and agreed to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Services. We may update these Terms from time to time; continued use after any changes constitutes acceptance.

01

Our Services

Unite is a mobile application designed to facilitate real-world social gatherings ("happenings"), persistent social groups ("Families"), and connected in-person communities. Features include discovering happenings on a live map, joining group chats, building a social profile, and connecting with people nearby.

The Services are intended for personal, non-commercial use. Those who access the Services from outside their jurisdiction of residence do so on their own initiative and are solely responsible for compliance with local laws.

02

Intellectual Property

Our intellectual property

We own or license all intellectual property in the Services — including source code, design, graphics, text, and the Unite brand. The Services are provided for your personal, non-commercial use only.

Your content

You retain ownership of content you create and post. By posting, you grant Unite a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to use, display, and distribute your content solely to operate and improve the Services. You are solely responsible for what you post.

03

One Person, One Account

One real person. One account. Always.

Unite is built around real-world presence and authentic identity. Each person may hold only one Unite account. Creating multiple accounts — under your own name, a pseudonym, or another person's identity — is a serious violation of these Terms and may result in permanent removal from the platform.

Unite uses phone-number verification via Firebase OTP to authenticate users. Your phone number is your identity anchor. Sharing accounts, using virtual numbers to create duplicates, or impersonating another person are strictly prohibited.

Because Unite connects people in real life — at happenings, in Families, within local communities — the integrity of each profile directly affects the safety and trust of every other member.

Suspension and termination

If we determine you have created or are operating multiple accounts, we reserve the right to terminate all associated accounts without notice and without refund of any paid subscriptions. Further legal action may be taken where appropriate.

04

Payments & Stripe

Unite uses Stripe to process all payments. By making any purchase, you agree to Stripe's terms of service and authorise Stripe to process payment on our behalf.

Billing

Subscription fees are billed in advance on a recurring basis. All prices include applicable taxes unless stated otherwise.

Refunds

Refunds for paid Happenings (tickets to events hosted on Unite) are governed by section 05 below. For any billing error, contact us at connect[at]unite.earth.

Cancellations

Cancel anytime through the app or by contacting us. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.

Price changes

We may change pricing with at least 30 days' notice to active subscribers. Continued use after the change constitutes acceptance.

Subscriptions are tied to a single account. If your account is terminated for violating these Terms — including creating multiple accounts — you are not entitled to a refund for any unused period.

05

Refunds & Cancellations for Happenings

Unite provides a platform through which independent hosts (“Hosts”) offer events, gatherings and experiences (“Happenings”) to other members (“Guests”). Unless otherwise stated, Hosts are responsible for organising and delivering their Happenings. Unite facilitates bookings, payments, communications and refunds relating to Happenings and acts as an intermediary platform between Hosts and Guests. The extent of Unite’s responsibilities may vary where required by applicable law.

Your statutory rights are not affected

Nothing in these Terms, and no policy chosen by a Host, removes or reduces any right you may have under applicable consumer protection law. Where a Host’s chosen policy conflicts with applicable law, applicable law prevails.

Cancelled Happenings

If a Host cancels a Happening, affected Guests may be entitled to a full refund of the amount paid for their ticket under applicable law and these Terms. Where a refund is due, it will be issued to the original payment method regardless of the refund policy selected by the Host.

Significant changes (rescheduling or relocation)

If a Host makes a material change to a Happening, affected Guests may be entitled to a full refund of the amount paid for their ticket regardless of the Host’s selected refund policy. Examples of material changes may include:

  • a change of date;
  • a substantial change to the advertised start time;
  • a significant relocation of the venue; or
  • another change that would reasonably affect a Guest’s decision to attend.

Minor changes do not normally trigger refund rights under this paragraph. For operational purposes, Unite may use objective criteria to identify potential material changes and to offer refund options to affected Guests.

Change of mind

Where a Happening proceeds substantially as described and a Guest simply chooses not to attend, refunds are governed by the refund policy selected by the Host and displayed at the time of purchase. A Host may choose an “All Sales Final” policy for change-of-mind cancellations. Nothing in this paragraph limits a Guest’s rights under the paragraphs above.

Cooling-off rights

Certain consumer purchases may benefit from statutory cancellation or cooling-off rights. However, tickets and reservations relating to events scheduled for a specific date or period are frequently exempt from such rights under many consumer protection regimes. Any applicable statutory cancellation rights will depend on the law governing the purchase and are not limited by these Terms.

How refunds are processed

Where a refund is due, Unite or the relevant payment provider will process the refund to the original payment method without undue delay and normally within 14 days. Any service fees or platform fees that are separately disclosed at checkout will be treated in accordance with the refund terms presented at the time of purchase and applicable law.

Notice of changes

Where required by applicable law, Hosts must provide reasonable notice of significant changes to a Happening, and Guests will be informed of any available refund options.

Host obligations and costs

Hosts are responsible for their own costs of preparing and delivering a Happening. A Host’s commercial risk, including expenses incurred before the Happening takes place, does not reduce any refund rights that may apply under applicable law or these Terms.

Host non-performance

Where a Host fails to deliver a Happening substantially as advertised, Guests may submit a claim through Unite’s support process. Unite may request information from both the Guest and the Host in order to assess eligibility for any refund, credit or other remedy available under applicable law, platform policy or payment-provider requirements. Nothing in this paragraph limits any statutory rights a Guest may have.

Refund investigations

Unite may investigate refund requests and may request information from Hosts or Guests where reasonably necessary to determine eligibility for a refund under these Terms, applicable law or payment-provider requirements.

If you believe a refund is due and has not been provided, contact connect[at]unite.earth. This is in addition to, and does not limit, any right a Guest may have to pursue a chargeback through their payment provider or seek assistance from a competent consumer authority.

08

Your Contributions

The Services allow you to create and share content — including happening descriptions, profile information, photos, and messages in group chats and Family channels. You retain ownership; we do not claim your content as our own. We may remove content that violates these Terms at our sole discretion.

09

Term & Termination

These Terms remain in effect while you use the Services. We may terminate or suspend your account at any time, with or without notice, for breach of these Terms — including creating multiple accounts. If terminated, you may not re-register under any name.

10

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United Kingdom. Both parties irrevocably consent to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the United Kingdom for any dispute arising under these Terms.

11

Dispute Resolution

Before commencing formal proceedings, both parties agree to attempt to resolve any dispute informally for at least 30 days by contacting connect[at]unite.earth. If informal resolution fails, disputes shall be referred to binding arbitration under the European Arbitration Chamber, seated in the United Kingdom, in English. No class actions.

12

THE SERVICES ARE PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. UNITE FACILITATES REAL-WORLD GATHERINGS BUT IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THE CONDUCT, SAFETY, OR ACTIONS OF ANY USER AT ANY HAPPENING OR EVENT.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, UNITE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF £50 OR THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO UNITE IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.

14

Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Unite and its affiliates from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the Services, your breach of these Terms, or any harmful act you commit toward another member.
